Polyps are abnormal growths rising from the lining of the large intestine (colon). Most polyps are benign (not cancerous), but some may develop into colon cancer over time.

Chronic inflammatory diseases of the colon can cause inflammation in the lining of the digestive tract, which can be debilitating to patients. Symptoms include persistent diarrhoea, abdominal pain, blood in the stool, weight loss and extreme tiredness.

Do you have any inherited genetic syndromes such as Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), Hereditary Non-Polyposis Colorectal Cancer (HNPCC) or Lynch Syndrome, Peutz-Jegher Syndrome, Juvenile Polyposis or MUTYH-Associated Polyposis (MAP)?

Inherited genetic syndromes can be detected via genetic testing. Genetic testing can assess your risk of cancer, and guide you to get appropriate cancer screening, surveillance and/ or preventive interventions if you have a family history of colorectal cancer.
