How It Works
The VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution integrates CT-free technology during the knee replacement surgery. It captures the patient’s bone anatomy and soft-tissue envelope without the need for preoperative CT or X-rays, allowing for precise, patient-specific implant placement.
An infrared camera and optical trackers gather essential details and data about the patient’s knee, providing the surgeon with real-time insights to guide decision-making and optimise implant positioning.
Real-Time Data Capture
During the surgery, your knee is mapped in real time using the advanced robotic system, comprising a table-mounted robotic unit, high-speed camera, hydrophobic optical reflectors, an optically tracked calibrated probe, and touchscreens working seamlessly together.
Valuable Insights
Before the bone is cut, a personalised plan is created by the robotic system based on your knee. Implant positioning or soft tissue tensioning can be adjusted by the surgeon using real-time feedback to optimise balance and alignment.
Precise Execution
The robotic system guides the surgeon during the procedure, helping to ensure accurate, consistent bone resections, even with leg movement. Proper alignment and balance are then confirmed through final system checks before the implant is placed.
